History
Local residents Hilton and Billie Sue Taylor purchased Revolution Bikes in December 2009 in a whirlwind take-over right before Christmas. In the midst of December's huge half price sale we hit the ground running and have been very grateful for the support of previous owners David Joyce and Sirpa Lajunen, who have run the shop since September 2003.
The Future
The shop has grown from a small BMX and Downhill shop to be more mainstream with more focus now on the road, triathalon and cross country mountain biking aspects of cycling. We also have a large and comprehensive range of kids bikes in stock. The accessories side of the business has grown to cover as broad spectrum of riders as possible. A lot of that has been in women’s specific clothing.
The range of bikes has been expanded with Kona and Marin mountain bikes now in store, plus a wider range of comfortable pathway bikes, and some new treats for the road riders too. Also new in stock the new sports nutrition range from Raisey's Original, made by friends in Napier. They make a great electrolyte drink mix plus a new anti-cramp electrolyte formula that is proving to be very effective. Free samples usually available in store.
Who we are
The business is owned by Hilton and Billie Sue Taylor. The full-time Mechanic/Salesman is Ben Rowell, assisted by part-timer Kurt McDonald.
Hilton Taylor is well known in mountain biking circles, having been involved with the Hawke's Bay Mountain Biking club at committee level for many years and toured the country as a UCI commissaire for national level competitions. Ben Rowell is a passionate roadie and member of the Ramblers road cycling club.
